Makena Cook's Stuff

 

 

Fire is a transformative force that can be both peaceful and destructive. I wanted to add that aspect of it, along with skeletons pulling at me. For me, it represents how grief and the thought of death and dying can bring you down and consume you. I also wanted to make something fitting for Halloween time, given I like spooky stuff and tis the season for such! 

 The Cyclical Nature of Things -  I've been dealing with a lot of death recently, so when thinking of the cyclical nature, I thought of life and death. I guess more specifically on the cycle of death, not just the shock and grief of it all, but also the specifics of funerals like cremations, viewings, and burials. 

 

I'm still playing around with different things in Photoshop, so it doesn't look like much at the moment. I don't really have a set plan of what exactly I want it to be. For the final images, I'm working on how to incorporate more red, white, and blue, as I want to add some more color.  I also like the inverted colors; I've been doing a lot of that and filters.
